What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is an activity that involves the consumption of a product or service for the purpose of recreation, amusement or distraction. Examples of entertainment are theatre, film, television, sports, concerts and video games.

The word entertain comes from the Old French entretenir (to hold or support). Its meaning has evolved through a series of etymological derivations and o nly refers to activities that hold attention. It satisfies external stimuli, offers pleasure, requires an audience and takes place in a passive form. What is entertaining for one person may be boring for another, and vice versa.
